Savages, a producer and DJ from the Budapest downtempo/trip-hop scene, for whom jazz is often not just a decorative element but a fundamental language in his music. He comes from a classical music background—he played the trumpet for years—and then, through adventurous musical explorations, found his way to the organic world of jazz, funk, soul, and hip-hop, which continues to permeate his sound to this day. As a producer, gritty breaks, cinematic atmospheres, smoky harmonies, and grooves are just as much his trademarks as his sample-based yet musical sound. In his own projects and DJ sets, he fuses these elements with the improvisational spirit of beat culture and jazz. His debut album, “Five Finger Discount”, is considered by fans to be nothing short of a cult classic in the Central European underground beat scene. He has been actively DJing and creating music with Suefo for years, and the two have introduced themselves to the public through numerous collaborative productions. In 2024, they released a collaborative project on Cold Busted, a renowned Los Angeles-based instrumental hip-hop label, available on both vinyl and cassette. This year, they collaborated with Fedora, a well-known MC on the Hungarian dnb/bass music scene, on a joint album: Fedora and The Worldstylers’ debut album, “Taurus”.
Alongside their work as producers, Suefo and Savages are building their own label under the name Mana Mana, where they release albums by older (Másfél, Úzgin Űver, PASO, Marcel, Duel, Sickratman) and newer (Obadu, Doktorhokashi, Aznap Projekt, Sokkal Másabb) artists, spanning an eclectic range from ambient to jazz to alternative rock.
