6 wine regions, 22 wine districts, 65 wineries

The Debrecen Wine and Jazz Days on 4-7 August will be by far the most outstanding wine and gastronomy event in the region, with visitors able to taste practically the entire range of Hungary’s wines in the Debrecen Nagyerdő. This time, 3+1 outstanding wineries will present their special wines.
Maison Aux Pois Furmint Selection U. 2019, Tokaj-Hegyalja
Only two 225-litre barrels of this multi-selected furmint were filled from one of the winery’s favourite growing sites. The nose is honey, vanilla, ripe yellow peaches and fresh mango. A sip reveals firm minerality, fruity acidity and a clean taste of the grape. The 9 months of used barrel ageing adds a lovely sweetness and subtle vanilla to the experience. A real citrusy, summery drink!
Oremus Mandolas 2019
Oremus Mandolás is a dry white wine with a full-bodied, lively yet lush acidity, harmoniously blended by barrel fermentation and fine lees ageing. The wine, made from Furmint, is aged for six months in oak barrels and a further six months in bottle before being released into the glass.
Dúzsi Greek Word Cuvée 2017
The best red wine in the world – the 2011 bottle was awarded the Best Red Wine at the Paris Vinalies Internationales in 2015! Not for nothing that Dúzsi Winery is considered to be the top wine of the year. The Greek Word Cuvée can only be produced in exceptionally good vintages after repeated selection of bunches and barrels. The wine is blended with cabernet franc and cabernet sauvignon, all grapes from 40-year-old vines from the exceptional Görögszó vineyard in Szekszárd. A promising lot, still almost fresh: an exceptional wine from an exceptional vintage.
+1. Birkás Izsáki Golden Sárfehér Brut 2019 sparkling wine
Gold sárfehér is the first Hungarian grape variety of protected origin. The few bubbles dancing in the glass add to the brilliant flavours and bring out the unique aromas of the variety. The wine is characterised by a golden yellow colour and a taste reminiscent of quince.
