Louis Roederer Champagne

France

Louis Roederer is one of the best-known and most prestigious houses in the world of Champagne, founded in Reims in 1776. The brand remains independent and family-owned to this day, and is one of the few major Champagne houses still run by a descendant of the founding family. A particularly important milestone in its history was 1876, when Cristal—the house’s iconic cuvée—was created for Tsar Alexander II of Russia and later became one of the world’s most famous prestige champagnes.

The foundation of Louis Roederer’s style lies in a precise understanding of the terroirs and an exceptionally strong estate-focused approach. The house works with approximately 250 hectares of vineyards and 420 hand-tended plots in the most important areas of the Champagne region, including the vineyards of the Montagne de Reims, the Vallée de la Marne, and the Côte des Blancs. Respect for nature is more than just a marketing gimmick: the estate has been practicing biodynamics since 2000, and regenerative, organic, and permaculture approaches also play a prominent role in its cultivation practices.

The portfolio is both classic and contemporary. The Collection series reflects the house’s current philosophy: each new release is built around the character of that particular year, which is made more complex, fresher, and gastronomically exciting by the Perpetual Reserve and barrel-aged reserve wines. At the same time, Cristal embodies Louis Roederer’s timeless image of luxury: a precise, layered, elegant champagne with great aging potential. Louis Roederer champagnes are for those who seek refined structure, a terroir-focused philosophy, and the classic yet vibrant style of the great champagne houses.
