Tokaj Wine Region - Erdőbénye

“My main message is naturalness, both in my wines and in the winemaking process,” says Dávid Rémusz, the estate’s owner and winemaker. Rémusz studied at the University of Agricultural Sciences in Debrecen, then his path took him abroad for shorter and longer stints, during which he spent some time in the United States and Germany; after gathering what he considered sufficient experience, his heart drew him back straight to Bénye. He produces his organic wines without additives, and he is convinced that in Tokaj-Hegyalja, you can make the world’s best wine with nothing more than a barrel and a rubber hose, because here, what ends up in the bottle truly depends on the grapes that come in. The headquarters of Budaházy-Fekete Kúria is located in Erdőbénye, in a beautifully restored manor house built in 1650; the 15-hectare winery celebrated its tenth anniversary in 2023.  Many people know Rémuszt as one of the five enthusiastic members of the Tokaj Y Generation, who sincerely believes that through active collaboration, Tokaj can once again become Hungary’s most exciting wine region.
