We carefully selected the location of our winery, which is situated on the outskirts of the city. As a result, it is easily accessible and features a large parking lot and green spaces, ensuring that visitors are always welcomed into a well-maintained environment. Architecturally, we aimed for a design that is not ostentatious; rather, we wanted a classic, family-style, Mediterranean-inspired winery. A 35-space parking lot and two bus parking spaces are available for our guests. The courtyard provides enough space for large trucks and lorries to turn around. We deliberately designed such a large space because we organize two outdoor events each year in our winery’s courtyard, each attracting several hundred people.
In early May, we host Tamás Günzer’s “Fish Days,” and in early June, we host “Balkan Days.” In addition, in November, our winery’s tasting room hosts a St. Martin’s Day celebration to mark the new wine harvest, which we supplement with a fully covered, heated tent, allowing us to accommodate 120 guests.
We always strive to process the harvest using the most modern technology available; in 2018, we purchased the latest crusher-destemmer-sorter developed by the French company Pellenc, which allows us to process only excellent and healthy grapes. Our presses are pneumatic, and fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks that can be cooled or heated to maintain a constant temperature.
We handle the wine as gently as possible using screw pumps. We bottle our wines using a 12-head automatic bottling line, and the wines are filtered using membrane and plate filters.
We currently cultivate 66 hectares of vineyards, mostly replanted vineyards with a modern layout, featuring 230-row spacing and 0.75-meter vine spacing. There are 5,500–6,000 vines per hectare. The vines are trained using low cordon or umbrella training systems.
The vineyards consist of 80% red grape varieties and 20% white grape varieties.
Our white grape varieties: Irsai Olivér, Muscat Ottonel, Olaszrizling, Chardonnay
Red grape varieties: Portugieser, Kékfrankos, Kadarka, Pinot Noir, Syrah, Zweigelt, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon.
We harvest the vine shoots from 100% of our vineyards using specialized equipment; during the winter, heating is provided exclusively by these vine shoots, which meet the winery’s hot water needs every day of the year.
Our winery produces exclusively classic and premium dry wines. We strive to offer a wide range of products on the market, which typically includes more than 20 wine varieties and several wine families. Our classic and reductive wines are mid-priced. In this category, we produce white, rosé, and red wines. Our premium wines are made from red grape varieties, with one exception. We take great pride in the Bocor wine family. The Bocor vineyard is located in Kisharsány; our largest contiguous plot spans 16 hectares and forms a basin sheltered on three sides. This area was newly planted in 2009, and we have been producing premium wines from it since 2011.
Our winery’s secondary products include grape seed oil and our grape brandy made from Irsai Olivér grapes.
We are most proud that, for three consecutive years, our rosé wine was voted Hungary’s best new wine. (2016–2017–2018)
Our winery has received several honors throughout its history. In 2008, President László Sólyom paid a visit to our restaurant, where we hosted him along with four winemakers from Villány.
In July 2012, we received an award in Estonia. Our winery was honored with a special award from the Confederation of European Wine and Gastronomy Unions (CEUCO).
