“Changing the world with a glass of wine!”—that is the vision of Maison aux Pois. According to owner-winemaker Gábor Kulcsár, it is a tremendous honor and challenge for a winery from the Hegyalja region—one without roots in Hegyalja—to work in what is perhaps the world’s most exciting wine-growing region. The estate is based in Mád, and its vineyards are located in three plots: Bestsek, Urbán, and Holdvölgy. Their wines are all about elegance—which is one of the reasons the estate was given a French name. Their goal is a refined, clean Burgundian style that showcases the Tokaj terroir and the potential inherent in their vineyards. Their wines are pleasant and easy to drink, beautifully and elegantly showcasing the Tokaj terroir. In addition to dry and sweet wines made from Furmint, the winery’s selection is interestingly complemented by a Sauvignon Blanc.
