The winery’s founder, Zsolt Maul, believed from the very beginning that Villány was capable of producing world-class premium wines. The Maul philosophy is therefore built on uncompromising quality, wines with character, and a unique style. Carefully tended vineyards, low yields, thoughtful use of barrels, and patience during aging all serve the same goal: to create wines that are not only excellent but also memorable.
In the winemaking process, barrel aging plays a particularly important role for us, as we believe this is when the wine reveals its true depth and complexity. Double Barrel Aging technology has become one of Maul Premium Winery’s hallmarks; during this process, some of our premium wines undergo two distinct stages of barrel aging, giving the wine an even silkier texture, a more complex aromatic profile, and a longer finish.
The Maul wine portfolio includes both elegant, fruity wines and serious, full-bodied wines intended for long-term aging. We are particularly proud of our Villányi Franc wines, as well as the VIRGO barrel selection series, our limited-edition premium selection crafted from the winery’s finest barrels. These wines are not sold commercially on a large scale; each bottle captures a unique moment.
Our commitment to quality has been confirmed in recent years by numerous domestic and international professional accolades. Maul Premium Winery’s wines have won a host of gold medals at prestigious wine competitions, and several of our wines have achieved outstanding results on the international stage as well. In 2024, the winery was recognized as one of Hungary’s most successful family-owned wineries, while our wines consistently rank among the best in blind tastings conducted by domestic and international experts. For us, these accolades are not merely awards but confirmation of our belief that premium quality always prevails in the long run.
For Maul Premium Winery, however, the premium philosophy extends beyond the wine itself. Equally important to us are the environment, the guest experience, and the atmosphere our guests can enjoy at the winery or at the Maul Wine Bar.
